Remote Interviews
|
Challenge: The Human Resources team at a nationwide financial company is faced with the prospect of doing more with less- a common reality in today's corporate culture. Human Resource managers are being held more accountable for making excellent hiring decisions on Director level positions. But they do not have the budget and cannot afford time away from the office for first and second interviews with prospects. And time away from the office means they will have to catch up on other duties when they return.
Solution: Videoconferencing is deployed to allow the HR Team to conduct first and second interviews remotely without investing the time with prospects who may not make the cut. Prospects can use local offices or a conferencing rental facility nearby for their interviews. This saves money on travel and allows HR to spend quality time with a prospect while projecting a high-tech image to the potential hire.

Legal Dispositions
|
Challenge: A mid-size law firm is pursuing larger corporate clients and needs a worldwide reach in order to land these accounts. But they cannot afford to fly attorneys all over the world working with corporate clients and become less responsive to their more local, anchor client base.
Solution: The firm deploys videoconferencing to increase their interaction with worldwide corporate clients and to hold remote depositions without leaving the office. They also find they are able to receive Continuing Legal Education coursework over video as well, saving them time and money.

Distance Learning
|
Challenge: A local school district has four high schools where students need foreign language credits to be accepted at a university. But they only have one French teacher in the district. Students are being bussed from the other three schools to the teacher's location because her teaching schedule is completely full. This creates student scheduling nightmares along with liability issues of transporting students during the school day.
Solution: The school installs videoconferencing at each high school so the French teacher can reach local and remote students simultaneously without the need for bussing. Students find that attending classes via distance learning is very effective and they learn just as much as when they are actually at the teaching site.

Judicial
|
Challenge: The county magistrate's court holds first appearance hearings for offenders from three incarceration facilities at various locations within a thirty-five mile radius. Deputies are assigned to transport inmates from these facilities to the county magistrate and guard them while they are waiting for their hearing. A deputy can be sitting with a prisoner for up to four hours on a busy day at the magistrate's office. This takes deputies off the street putting the public at additional risk.
Solution: Videoconferencing is installed at the magistrate's court as well as the three jail facilities. Offenders can remain incarcerated as the magistrate conferences with the jail location for the hearing. Using videoconferencing allows the deputy to remain on the street and removes the liability of transporting potentailly dangerous offenders.

Healthcare
Challenge: Rural providers often cannot offer first rate healthcare for patients at local clinics. These clinics provide healthcare services through nurse practitioners or general practice physicians who lack the specializations some patients require. In many cases, patients in rural areas lack the transportation or the money to seek the help of specialists in more populated areas.
Solution: Through the use of telemedicine, rural clinics are able to gain access to remote specialists. Money and, most importantly, lives are saved when patients have immediate access to critical healthcare. In addition, practitioners in remote locations are often able to achieve Continuing Medical Education credits through distance learning. This allows them to stay off the road and in the clinics where they are needed most.
